Elvira’s Music
The stirring quality and depth of Elvira Clare’s music and singing has evolved primarily from her life as a spiritual seeker. Her inner journey and eventual contemplative vocation began early in life. Elvira grew up in a musical family. When she was 4 years old, her Father’s career as a popular singer came to an abrupt end after an auto accident left him paralyzed for the remaining 34 years of his life. This had a profound effect on Elvira’s life, giving rise to an inner search for life’s meaning and purpose.
During the early 1970’s, Elvira sang professionally. By the mid-seventies she put her music career aside as her contemplative vocation began to unfold. By the early 1980’s she turned her song-writing talents to composing songs of inspiration and prayer. During this period of her life she lived in various spiritual communities…
As her own journey unfolded, Elvira felt drawn to the idea of founding a spiritual community. In the mid 1990’s this dream was realized when she co-founded The Forest of Peace Community: an intentional contemplative community embracing various faith traditions. It is located on Salt Spring Island, BC in Canada.
